Q. hi, i had a brace about 7 years ago and my bottom teeth have gone misaligned and wonky again. i have recently seen someone that had a permanent retainer fitted behind her lower teeth, it is just a single wire that is fixed from the canines. i was wondering if i would be able to have this done or if i have to start orthodontic treatment again? many thanks for you advise, Gemma
A. Hello Gemma,
If you are happy with the current situation you can have a retainer to keep the teeth in this position.
The best would be to have Orthodontic treatment to move the teeth after which have a fixed retainer fitted.
Have a consultation with a dentist beforehand.

Q. My teeth is all twisted. I am a dibetic does Invisalign would work for me?
A.
Invisalign works in most cases of crowding. Being diabetic is not a contra indication for having Invisalign treatment.
Contact an experience Invisalign doctor for assessment of your case.

Q. Hi Dr, I have had the inman aligner on my bottom teeth for 4 weeks and the pain is getting worse. The plastic which rests on the gum has caused a deep indentation on one side and this is where the majority of the pain is coming from. Is this normal ? Thanks, Kye
A. I would advise you go and see your dentist, as it is very difficult to say what the cause of the pain is without seeing your teeth.

Q. hello i have read that invisalign may not be good for rotating teeth, i have badly rotated canines and was wondering if invislaign can be used if you have rotated canines or if I am stuck to metal braces ?
A. Invisalign can be used to correct rotated teeth by placing attachments on them.
Fixed braces are easier to correct rotated teeth.
There are tooth coloured braces if you are concern about the poor esthetics of metal braces.

Q. My teeth seem to be straight but i have an overbite. I can fit my little finger through the gap so i would say its not minor. One of my front teeth has been chipped when i was younger so i have to have that filled. I want to have a better bite an teeth that dont stick out! What do you think would be the best treatment for this overbite an on average how costly would the treatment be?… thanks..
A. dear Sir/Madam,
I too had an overbite( overjet ) and I treated myself to have no gap for my finger. Invisalign can straighten your teeth without the need for over the top metal braces.
It just depends who treats you. The more the cost then the more teeth are moved to correct your problem. We charge 3-4000 for full upper and lower treatment.

Q. Hi Dr Li I have very slight relapse of my front teeth following orthodontic treatment when i was younger. My 2 front teeth used to be perfectly in line, they have now shifted slightly (probably less than 2mm). Is there a way of using invisalign to correct this. Also would it cost less as the discrepancy is so minor. Would seem excessive to pay thousands to correct this but it is something that bothers me. Many thanks
A. Hello,
Invisalign sounds ideal to correct this relapse type of movement that has occured since you had braces when you were younger. If only the front few teeth need to be moved I would recommended that you have the Anterior Case as opposed to the Full Case which is set by Invisalign. This will reduce the costs for you but still ensure that you do not compromise the effectiveness of the treatment. I would speak to the dentist providing Invisalign to give you an estimate as to what fee they would charge for this.
Kind regards

Q. Hello Raj, I’m now 18 years old, and I wore braces for over 2 years (close to 3 I believe) and then a retainer for about 6-7 months. My teeth were lovely, I stopped wearing my retainer. Anyway, about a year down the line now, and I have a gap between my front two teeth, and also a gap between the one next to it. I can still push my teeth back together with a tiny non-visible gap. I can still put my top retainer on .. but even if I wear it for a few days .. my teeth go back to their old ways pretty quickly if I stop. What should I be doing? I don’t want to wear visible braces again.. I went through that for too long last time, and I’ll be starting university in just over a month. Would invisalign help me? What sort of timeframe and cost would I be looking at to sort my problem out in your opinion? Thank you for any help you give me
A. I am sorry that your orthodontics has not been stabilised. The chances are that you have some residual work to be done and Invisalign can sort this out for you.
The time frame could be 6 months or a little over. The problem that have is that dentists are quoting ridiculous fees for Invisalign and they can only do this by stripping the enamel between the front 6 teeth.
Now I do not do that and I insist the back teeth are moved out of the way to preserve the enamel. This takes longer but you will get a better more stable result. Our charges are 3000 to 4000 but you would be the lower mark.

Q. Hello i have a slight overbite and i was wondering if inman aligner would be able to fix my overbite because i dont really want braces, but ive heard inman aligner only straightens your teeth? Thank you in advance
A. Hello,
It is very difficult to tell without an examination whether you can have inman aligner or not.Inman is not as versatile as invisalign so it is better to see a dentist for a consultation.

Q. i read on your ask the expert site that inman aligners are only good for pushing teeth out does this mean that my two teeth that come out more then the other teeth will not be pushed back in line with the straight teeth and that instead the straight teeth will be pushed out to meet the crooked ones instead thank you.
A. dear User. I have no experience of using The Inman Aligner and so cannot comment on this particular form of treatment
