How many teeth does an aligner move?

I just changed aligners two days ago, and am finding that it is just one tooth which seems to be aching. My question is how many teeth an aligner will typically move? Is it just one, or more?

Is teeth filing as part of invisalign treatment damaging to the teeth?

I have read that invisalign often requires teeth to be filed away, or some such method, to make space for the teeth to straighten. This does not sound all that beneficial to the well-being of teeth. Is it safe, or can it damage tooth structure?
