Q. With christmas coming up what would you say about alcohol consumption and wearing the aligners. All I am going to be doing this year is eating crap and drinking a lot, but I don’t want the aligners to get in the way. Would I be able to bring my time wearing them down to about 16 hours a day or something?
A. If this is the case, it may be best for you to wear the aligners less each day but have each aligner slightly longer before changing to the next one i.e. 16 days of wear instead of 14.

Q. I know you are supposed to clean your teeth after each time you eat and the aligners themselves. But, is cleaning your teeth so much safe to do as I am sure I have heard that brushing teeth too much can in itself be harmful?
A. Cleaningh after eating is recommended, but use Philips Sonicare as it is very efficient with a soft head

Q. Now, in the past I have not been one to snore and I have never had any complaints from my husband about such matters. But now since I began invisalign I have begun to snore and my husband is complaining. Is can only put this sudden change down to the aligners. Would you think this is the cause?
A.
The most likely cause is because you are more likely to be breathing through your mouth and therefore snoring whilst you are sleeping.
I’m afraid that there is no way that I know of that you could stop snoring whilst having the Invisalign treatment is going on.

Q. Would I be able to get teeth whitening during my invisalign treatment? I have attachments as well if that will cause any problems?
A.
Bleaching could be done using the last aligner after the attachments are removed.

Q. My dentist told me that I was going to need attachments, but it has turned out that he only gave me one. And he says that is it. Is this normal? Do invisalign patients normally not require a few more than this?
A. The number of attachments you need depend on the type of movement each tooth needs to get to the right place and also if the aligner needs more grip or hold further round the sides.
I would not be getting stressed if you only have one attachment. You have got off lucky!

Q. I am seriously contemplating getting invisalign but I have a few questions that I was hoping you would be able to answer? Are they similar to metal braces in terms of cutting the gums to bit and causing endless saliva? Do they hurt every time you get a new one like when you get metal braces tightened? Thanks.
A. Hello,
Neither Invisalign nor Metal braces should cut into the gum. Invisalign itself is much comfortable ( cosmetically nicer) option than having metal braces fixed on the teeth. Every patient reacts differently to braces regardging saliva production. The new aligner feels a bit tight for the fisrt couple of days but by the end of the second week it gets easier to remove it.

Q. I s invisalign capable of fixing teeth that are quite crooked? I heard it can not fix cases where the teeth are severly crooked but I would not consider my teeth as such. It is mainly my two front teeth.
A. I can probably guess that your 2 teeth are twisted towarsd or away from each other.
Depending on which dentist is treating you then Invisalign can work

Q. How many refinements are normally included in the cost of invisalign? If more are needed will I need to pay for them and the dentist will not cover them, but isn’t it their fault if further refinements are needed?
A.
I do not charge my patients for refinement .Same applies to most dentist

Q. I am now three months into my treatment and gradually my bite has got weird. Now, when I eat it feels like my teeth are not fitting correctly and this makes it really difficult to chew. Please tell me that this will sort itself out in the end?
A. Hello,
During the treatment the teeth move and until they are in the final position they might feel strange for a while. The bite should be checked once the treatment is finished.
