Six Month Smiles failed me. Would Invisalign be a good choice?

June 15th, 2010

Q. Hello i had the 6 month smiles treatment and it didn\’t work it was because my wisdom teeth came through and i had to have them extracted then because my gums felt sore and my teeth felt very sensitive i stopped the brace treatment. my teeth are all very crooked now and the gaps have gotten larger. i asked my dentist about invisalign but he didn\’t tell me much about it, do you think it could be good for me?,
A. It could be good for you, I would recommend you see an Invisalign experienced dentist for a consultation.

Would Invisalign cost less if I only need it to move one tooth?

March 12th, 2010

Q. I have only one tooth (significantly) out of place. It is the one next to my two front upper teeth and has been very obvious since I was young. I am 22 and my dentist says he wouldn’t expect braces to take longer than 6 months as there is plenty of space for the out of place tooth to move back. I am seriously considering having invisalign braces but will it cost less as it is only one tooth? How much is it likely to cost? Thank you.,
A. It would be best to ask your dentist for the exact price as it varies from place to place. I don’t think it costs any less to have just one tooth moved compared to several.

Would Invisalign be a good choice for a second bout of braces?

February 25th, 2010

Q. I had attached metal braces when I was younger and didn’t like them all that much. Now, I am in my early 20s and one of the front teeth has overlapped one of the other teeth. I don’t know why this has happened and if this is something that I have done wrong since my braces treatment but I really want to get it treated. My budget is notall that much and I am pretty sure that I saw 6 month smiles is cheaper than invisalign but can you advise me on what treatment would be suitable for my particular problem? Can you tell me if consultations are free for these treatments and if teeth whitening is usually inculded. Thanks.
A. dear Sir/Madam,
many thanks for contacting us.
Invisalign is a form of treatment that can be done aggressively and damage your teeth or properly by moving the side teeth out of the way first.
Sure 6 month smiles is cheaper and quicker, but do you really want a dentist filing awau the enamel between your front teeth?
as for free consultations and free tooth whitening, I would recommend these as unimportant.
If you want to have a second stage of orthodontics then do it properly and have your dentist look at the whole mouth and have full Invisalign, which will take longer and be more expensive.
I have yet to treat/finish a case within 6 months as I do not believe in enamel cutting at the front

What is the best treatment for an overlapping tooth?

February 12th, 2010

Q. One of my front teeth overlaps the other one. I am unsure whether there is any point in going with Invisalign or just getting some other treatment for just the one tooth. Can you please shed any light on this situation for me. Thanks.
A. It depends on what you want, time frames, budget.  If you dont mind wearing fixed braces you can have them or white coloured braces, this could be quicker, eg 6 month smiles.  If you want discreet treatment that is not visible then invisalign and lingual braces are better.

What brace system is best to treat one crooked tooth?

February 12th, 2010

Q. One of my front teeth sticks out before the other one. I hate the look of it but it does not affect my bite. Would invisalign be the best choice or do you know of anything better as it is only the one tooth?
A. Invisalign or 6 month smile or maybe an inman aligner could treat you, find a dentist who does multiple types of braces so you can get the best treatment for your individual situation.

What will happen if I am not suitable for invisalign?

December 15th, 2009

Q. I have a consultation for invisalign. If I am not suitable will I be told of other braces options?
A. It depends on what other treatments the dentist offers but it is common practice to offer alternative treatments and options, ie inman aligner, 6 month braces or refer to a specialist etc

Is invisalign slow at moving teeth?

December 11th, 2009

Q. Is invislaign a slower option when it comes to teeth straightening. I know it is supposed to be less pain but is this becuase if moves the teeth at a slower rate than with metal braces, or other systems?
A.

The speed of treatment depends on each case. Sometimes invisalign can be a rapid form of treatment, but in other cases treatment such as 6 month braces can be faster. It really depends on the complexity of the case

Which braces are quickest at straightening teeth?

November 3rd, 2009

Q. Which would you say offers the quickest treatment times out of invisalign and fixed braces? I want to get my teeth straightened but preferable in the quickest time possible. Also, I have seen something called six month braces but I guess this if just for teeth that require little movement?
A. most orthodontics cannot be completed in 6 months if you have crowding at the back of the mouth. Quick treatments involve stripping the enamel between the front teeth; not something i would recommend

i have moderate overcrowding ie too many teeth in

October 8th, 2009

Q. Hi there, I have moderate overcrowding ie too many teeth in my mouth. My upper row is fine. The bottom row has too many teeth. It means that the two at the front seem fine but the ones either side protudes upwards and are being pushed back this gives a unsightly dracula effect. what would be my options in your professional opinion, and what would be the quickest ?? regards.
A. There are many forms of teeth staightnening that are good for treating crowded teeth, ie invisalign, inman aligner, damon braces, six month braces. It is very difficult to say what the best form of treatment is for you without a clinical exam and without looking at your teeth and your bite. I would recommend you book in for a consultation with a dentist that carries out the treatments above to explore the options available for you.

I want to get my braces straightened and am mainly

September 29th, 2009

Q. I want to get my teeth straightened and am mainly contemplating invisalign. However, fixed braces are a distinct possibility. Would you be able to tell me which is the faster treatment on average?
A. Invisalign can be rapid, depending on the amount of crowding you have. Otherwise, you can consider 6 month braces/ 6 month smiles. Treatment times with this type of treatment last on average 6 months.
