For how long should you wear retainers after invisalign?

October 8th, 2009
Q.
I have heard some dentists say that patients should wear their retiainers indefinately after they have finished invisalign, at night or what not. Is this the same advice for all braces, or are invisalign braces more prone to teeth moving back to their original position?

Will the price of invisalign as posted on clinic websites be for just the upper mouth, for exmaple, or would it cover treatment for upper and lower teeth? Thanks.

Safe to use a nail file to rub away protruding piece on aligner?

October 2nd, 2009
Q.
I am now on my fourth set of aligners and a problem has arose. My tongue is getting rubbed against viciously by my alginers. I have heard some people use a nail file to remove the bit that is sticking out. Is this something that should not be done? The pain is getting on my nerves.

Does it get easier to take out aligners during invisalign treatment?

October 2nd, 2009
Q.
Does it get easier to take your trays out as invisalign treatment goes along. I have just begun treatment and it seems like hard work taking them out, especially as I am trying to be as gentle as possible. Will it get any easier?

Q.
My invisalign aligners always seem to take on a smelly odour after a while of wearing them. No matter what I do the smell always comes about. Do you have any advice to stop this?

Will having a filling affect my invisalign treatment?

September 15th, 2009
Q.
I am wearing invisalign aligners, but am concerned as I think I am going to need a filling on my next visit to the dentist. Will this have an effect upon the movement caused by the aligner when the filling is put in?

What is the typical time between changing aligners?

September 15th, 2009
Q.
My dentist has told me that I will need to wear each aligner for 4 weeks before switching to the next set, but that this may change over time. I have read that people normally switch aligners after about two weeks. Is there a reason for this different time structure?

Can you be too old to use invisalign braces?

September 10th, 2009
Q.
I am wanting to have invisalign braces but am unsure, as I am a 50 year old woman after all. I know quite a few people in their 30′s get braces but is there a cut-off age?

Is it okay that I skipped to my next set of invisalign aligners?

September 10th, 2009
Q.
Hello Dr Akere. I just got back from a one week holiday but am worried as I managed to forget my current set of invisalign aligners after taking them out that morning to clean my teeth. Thankfully, I had already packed my next set as it was going to be time to change during my holiday. They were a bit tight but generally okay. Was this okay to do?
