Q. Hi Dr Raj Can I ask what the difference is between a cosmetic dentist and an orthodontist? I ask as my teeth have shifted since last having treatment about 12 years ago, how much do you charge for invisalign? I believe it is minor crowding Thanks

A. A cosmetic dentist can offer simple orthodontics or a cosmetic solution. An orthodontist can only offer orthodontics. In terms of cost, if you think you have mild crowding then the best bet is to get a dentist to examine and confirm it so. Q. My orthodontist has specified that i need attachments but I don\’t want them because they\’ll stand out, is it necessary for me to have them? Can i chose not to have them?,

Q. i have one particular tooth that juts out and it\’s causing my tray to be misshapen and so now whatever tray i use it always feels loose, my orthodontist said this is normal but my teeth don\’t look any different after months of the treatment. what should i do? thanks.,
A. You should ask your dentist to show you your scan and see if the teeth are moving as expected. If not then new impressions R Kumar

Q. hello i\’m really looking into getting invisalign but the thing is i\’m terrified of the dentist, can you please tell me what i can do in taking my first step to receiving invisalign in my case? Thank you for the help in advance.,
A. if you are afaraid of dentistry then you need to find a caring dentist, motivated in patient care and not money. You should find someone with +4 years of Invisalign experience and expect to pay 4000 for full Invisallign. Q. Hi I went for an invisalign consultation and they said I\’m suitable which is great but my dentist has told me I need my wisdom tooth extracting because it\’s going to cause trouble for the treatment. How long will I have to wait after I\’ve had the tooth extracted for the invisalign impressions? Thanks,
A. I doubt if your wisdom teeth would be involved in creating space for the Invisalign. You could have impressions and then have teeth out. The braces take 4-6 weeks to arrive which would give the sockets time to heal Dr R Kumar BDSLDSRCS

Q. I was told that there could be a chance I\’d need fixed braces at the end of my treatment because of two stubborn teeth (next to my very front teeth) the whole point of me getting invisalign was so my teeth could be fixed completely and my orthodontist said it was likely that it would fix my teeth but then sends me a letter after i\’ve already paid saying I may need fixed braces! Is this right?? Is he just trying to get more money out of me?,
A. Well he may be covering all possibilities. In an experienced practice you should have little problem in getting the side teeth fixed. Are they twisted or just sticking out? Dr R Kumar BDSLDSRCS

Q. hello, i am 22 years old, my teeth are straight i dont have a overbite or underbite, i just have a small gap in between my two front teeth that i have wanted closed for a long time, but i didnt want braces. I was thinking about getting invisalign,the only problem is i now have my wisdom teeth, which have grown slightly towards my cheeks. will i need to have my teeth taken out before invisalign treatment. thankyou, hope to hear from you soon.
