Q. My face and jaw appears to be swollen since having the invisalign, i\’m brand new to it and had my first set of aligners in only last week but my whole mouth and jaw are killing me! My face looks very puffy, should i be concerned? should i do anything about this?,
A. I am unsure why the swelling has happened, I would recommend you go and see your dentist so he/she can have a look. Best Wishes

Q. I was given elastics to use a few weeks ago because I have 2 very stubborn teeth which need pulling down. The thing is I don\’t think they\’re working, I haven\’t noticed any teeth movement and feeling slightly anxious about this because I\’ve finished with the aligners now,
A. It is very difficult for me to say what is happening withouth a clinical examination and the appropriate clinical records. You may require a case refinement if you are at the end of the treatment, which is sometimes necessary with Invisalign. I would recommend you see your Invisalign dentist and explain your concerns.

Q. I\’ve tried all types of braces on my upper jaw as the traditional braces fixed my lower teeth but nothing seems to work on my upper teeth, I have 3 very stubborn teeth that are quite twisted and I am willing to give invisalign a try before I get them pulled out! In your opinion would invisalign help with very twisted teeth?,
A. You may have to consider braces such as Damon braces to correct severely rotated teeth as Invisalign doesn\’t work very well on severely crooked or twisted teeth. Very difficult to say what your options are and therefore I recommend you go for a consultation with a dentist that offers many forms of orthodontic treatments, such as Damon braces, Invisalign, Clearstep etc

Q. my aligners have turned a funny colour so when they\’re in my teeth look yellow! I thought the aligners were supposed to be clear?I\’ve been cleaning them so i don\’t know what has happened have you experienced a client in the same situation?,
A. I would recommend using a special cleaner called RetainerBrite to clean your aligners.

Q. Hello! I\’ve noticed since having the invsalign in my oral health has deteriorated and i\’ve been brushing my teeth as usual and cleaning the trays etc so I don\’t understand what\’s happening but i\’ve noticed two small holes between the gaps in my front teeth, do you know why this could be happening?,
A. Has your diet changed in any way or do you have a sweet tooth and drink a lot of fizzy drinks? Diet can affect you oral health. Please make sure you see your dentist and hygienist regularly to help prevent problems. I would recommend you go and see your dentist to have those holes checked

Q. I have new to Invisalign but am researching is at is the treatment I would like to go for. I have come across the stuff about refinements, but can you tell me if these are normally required?,
A. It is very difficult to say whether a refinement is required after invisalign treatment as it depends on each case. Refinements are more likely to be needed on cases that take longer and are more complex.

Q. I know you aren\’t supposed to eat with the aligners in but every now and then I have done so. Even though I know it is bad, Will doing so make it more likely that I will developed something like cavities or is not that bad? Getting a bit worried now after being so foolish.,
A. If you eat or drink with your aligners in you can damage them. You can also increase your likelyhood of developing decay if you drink fizzy drinks with your aligners in. I would recommend you follow your dentist\’s instructions not to eat or drink with the aligners in.

Q. I have been quoted 300 pounds for the imaging and 4500 pounds for invisalign. Then I have been quoted 500 pounds per crown (4 recommended). Up to 3 teeth may need to be removed. All in quote to fix teeth is approx 7000 pounds. Payment option is during treatment only (I believe). Does that sound reasonable?,
A. Each clinic will have different fees, but your quote seems to be reasonable. Please note that prices will vary depending on complexity of treatment, materials (for the crowns) used etc.

Q. Please help! My attachments have fallen off! Do I have to start my treatment again? I\’ve nearly finished! I\’m really worried and i can\’t see my orthodontist till next week.,
A. I would not worry but I would ring your dentist for advice. It is very unlikely that your will have to restart your treament again, but it is difficult to comment without seeing your teeth and knowing the treatment plan.

Q. Hello i had an accident last week whilst having my aligners in. Anyway, my tooth has died now and it\’s gone a really dark colour. Could i get this whitened or not because i\’m undergoing the treatment? what do you think?,
A. If your tooth has died, it means you require root canal treament, and unfortunately discoulouration is something that can happen in a dead tooth. For cases like this, normal tooth whitening may not work and you may require internal bleaching, which is not that predictable unfortunately. Y ou may want to consider a crown once your invisalign treament has finished to improve the appearance of the dead tooth,
