My teeth are still not aligned correctly, even after refinements. What should I do?

February 20th, 2012
Q.

Hi, I started invisalign 2 years ago to correct some wonky teeth at the top and bring forward one bottom tooth at the front which was behind the others. I had 33 aligned for the top and 25 for the bottom. Although my teeth looked better (but not perfect after the first course) I was unable to bite my back teeth together and so I was offered a course of refiners – a further 9 for the bottom and 15 for the top. I am just on my last top refiner but still my back teeth appear to be nowhere near meeting. Plus my top teeth are still not in a smooth curve at the front with one of my front teeth slightly forward of the other. I am worried as the first set of refiners did not correct my bite (which was fine before I started any treatment) and I am still not happy with the overall appearance of my teeth.

What are my options, what should I be saying to my dentist in 2 weeks?

Thanks,

dr raj kumar

I have overcrooked teeth, will I need to have a tooth extraction before my Invisalign treatment?

February 20th, 2012
Q.

Hello,

I am looking to get my teeth treated through Invisalign as they are quite badly over crowded. I have been advised that I will either need extraction or IPR. I would much rather IPR than extraction, however I am concerned about the amount needed to be taken off each tooth. Do you know what the maximum amount of IPR Invisalign advise to take off every tooth? For example – is there a different amount for 1 – 2 compared to 4 – 5?

Thank you in advance,

dr raj kumar

Is tea or coffee likely to have ramifications on the state of my Invisalign aligners?

February 9th, 2012
Q.

Hello and good day to you doctor I have recently been told about the dangers of the ‘sugar bath’ effect with invisalign aligners. Ive been told this is where you drink sugary drinks while wearing the aligners and the sugar all stays in the aligner, where it starts really getting to work on the teeth and not in a good way!. I’m not a fizzy pop drinker myself, but I do drink an awful lot of tea and coffee throughout the day and would very much so like to know if there be similar ramification with wearing the invisalign aligner and drinking coffe and tea and dental damage?

thank you doctor

I have lost my bottom retainer and my top retainer is cracking, what should I do?

January 30th, 2012
Q.

Hi, I had the treatment for a gap in my two top front teeth however the orthodontist tidied up my bottom teeth too (these were not really the problem) however I lost the retainer for the bottom set and I am just worrying that when I wear the top one’s at night I am ruining them with my teeth as they are cracking where my bottom teeth touch them. Is this usual for people to experience or do you have patients that only have treatment for the top / lower teeth? I cannot afford to replace my lower retainer and my teeth have moved already. What is the normal course of action for this? Many Thanks

Do I have to have white fillings to complete my Invisalign treatment?

January 30th, 2012
Q.

Dear Vasileia,

I would truly appreciate if you could confirm me that in order to use invisalign you have to put some white fillings and its not possible to do the Invisalign treatment without them.

And if yes are these fillings very visible?

thanks

kind regards

Should I have my wisdom teeth taken out before Invisalign treatment?

January 26th, 2012
Q.

hi there

my wisdom teeth have started to come through and they are pushing my front teeth together, to a point where they look like they are going to overlap. I obviously don’t want this to happen, so I was just wondered what my course of action would be? Not all of the wisdom teeth have come through, so should I wait until they do? and should I have the wisdom teeth that have come through taken out before I have my invisalign braces? thank you

I am 60 years of age, is this too old to have Invisalign treatment?

January 26th, 2012
Q.

I would like you opinion on invisalign braces, for lets say ‘an older gent’ I am 60 years old and my teeth have never been straight. Some would say that it is pointless and frivolous of me to spend my money on braces at my age, but the fact is that I’ve wanted straight teeth all my life and it wasn’t until a lucky spot of gambling two weeks ago that I have the money to have my teeth straightened. As I am still and old codger however I would like braces that no one can see, which is why I am interested in invisalign. My teeth are crooked on the top and I am 60 years of age-is there any hope for me?

Thank you very much Vasileia for your time

I don’t think my aligners are moving my teeth properly, what should I do?

January 26th, 2012
Q.

Hi, I have one wonky tooth next to my two front teeth (before the brace it was almost on its side) and am 3/4 way through my invisalign treatment. the tooth has rotated quite a lot since last march when i first got the braces but I’ve had to have a refinement due to a space in the bottom on the tray where the attachments didn’t fit as the tooth wasn’t moving down. Now on my refinement trays (14 new ones) the gap had returned. Is there any advice on what I can do? Thanks, for your time doctor thorne

Is there anything other than water I can drink when wearing Invisalign?

January 23rd, 2012
Q.

Hey Adam! I’m 17 and just got my invisalign yesterday. To be honest, I’m normally a HUGE soda drinker – but I’m trying to cut back so I don’t damage my teeth after getting everything taken care of.

I’ve been told the only thing I should drink with invisalign in is water, and I understanding water is the best thing for me – but will drinking milk hurt my teeth if i drink it with invisalign in?

Are there any other negative side effects I should worry about with drinking milk with invisalign in aside from clouding my invisalign trays?

thank you for your time and apologies for the long question, I’m just hoping there’s SOMETHING I can drink without having to go through the painful process of removing the trays each time I’m thirsty.
