I have been using invisalign braces since Oct 2010, and had 10 sets of braces up to August 2011. I then had a further 5 sets of braces because my upper arch was still not aligned. I returned to my dentist at the end of Oct 2011, but the tooth next to my front tooth was still not in line with my arch ( it used to overlap behind my front tooth, it no longer does but is still behind the arch line of my upper teeth). My dentist told me Invisalign has refused further treatment as they have “reached their goal”. I argued that our goal was an aligned upper arch but my dentist just repeated the above. He then put a liquid emanel on top of the tooth to bring it in line with my front tooth and arch. I have had this since Oct 2011, but am not happy with it. The colour is more yellow than my own teeth, and I feel that my treatment is not complete, and not in line with what my dentist said was achievable. I asked if it was a money issue but he did not answer. Please can you advise me what to do – I am due to see my dentist in 2 weeks to have the final part of the treatment – a metal wire at the back of my upper teeth to prevent movement of my teeth back. I don’t see the point of doing this when my teeth are not fully aligned and why do I have to have liquid enamel put over a perfectly healthy tooth ( I have also been told that this discolours easily and needs replacing yearly).
I appreciate any advice you can give.
Many thanks

                                Dear Dr Raj,

When I was younger and went to get braces, the dentist told me that I have an impacted tooth which will need to be removed before I get the braces. This threw me off and 10 years down the line I regret not doing it.

Today I went to the dentist for the first time in years, and he told me that the tooth needs NOT to be removed and I can progress with Invisalign. But im not sure because why did the dentist who I saw the first time mention it?

My front Incisors are straight but wonky to the side and I’m afraid the impacted tooth is causing the wonkiness by forcing them to grow at an angle. If I were to get Invisalign to straighten these wonky front teeth, are there any risks that it make hit the impacted canine? Or what would happen if they did?

Thanks!
