How is the aligner used to whiten teeth?

Q. I have read that invisalign can somehow be used to whiten teeth, I think near the end of treatment? How is this possible? Thank you.
A. The aligner can be used to whiten teeth by putting some recommended whitening gel inside the aligner for a few hours a day or overnite over a period of a few days to weeks.
