My tongue is constantly bleeding because of my aligner, what can I do?

August 2nd, 2010

Q. i have one particular tray in that\’s cutting into my tongue quite bad, my orthodontist said it\’ll be fine soon but it\’s already been 5 days and my tongue is constantly bleeding. Can i cut off some of the aligner myself?,
A. Please do not do any DIY on your aligner as you may end up damaging them and then may require new ones incurring some extra charge and delaying your treatment. I would suggest you ring your Invisalign dentist for advice.

July 7th, 2010

Q. My new aligners are causing me a lot of pain… i think they\’re tightening/moving the teeth where my two back fillings are located, the filings feel like they\’re going to pop out or something! What can I do about this agony?,
A. Hello, It is difficult to tell. New aligners might cause discomfort for the first couple of days.Regarding the fillings it is the best to have it check out. I would advise an appointment with your dentist.

My attachments constantly fall off, why is this?

June 16th, 2010

Q. i\’m having severe attachment problems! firstly, they keep falling off (i have no idea why) and when i have them fixed back on they\’re sharp and hurt my gums! my dentist said i\’m exaggerating but it\’s causing problems and it\’s embarrassing when you\’re out with friends and the attachments decide to fall off! please help! how can i make them stay on and NOT hurt?,
A. Hello, If you keep the aligner fitted over the attachments it might help with the discomfort. Lost attachments can be easily refitted by your dentist. You might want to avoid crispy, hard food. You might want to discuss the sharpness of the attachments with your dentist who can also examine the sotf tissue.

My aligners are currentl very painful! Can I take anything to ease the pain?

June 10th, 2010

Q. Hi the aligners i\’m currently wearing (15/22) are very painful! The rest have been great so far, I know it\’s my teeth moving which is great because I know it\’s working :) just wondering, is there anything I can take to ease the pain? Because I obviously can\’t take the aligners out.,
A. Hello, You might want to mention the above to your dentist who could check the fit of your aligner, your teeth, your gum etc. If you wish you can take painkillers as well but first I would consult with the Invisalign Provider.

I’m experiencing pain from my first tray, will the other trays be as painful?

April 19th, 2010

Q. just a quick question, i\’m on my first tray and it\’s very painful, will the other trays be as painful? if so is there anything i can do to ease the pain? thanks,
A. It is not unusual to get some discomfort with the first set of aligners for the first few days.It does get better with time. With every new set of aligners you are meant to feel some pressure which should last a few days or a little over a week. Pain killers does help in extreme case of discomfort.
