What is the difference between a cosmetic dentist and an orthodontist?

July 29th, 2010

Q. Hi Dr Raj Can I ask what the difference is between a cosmetic dentist and an orthodontist? I ask as my teeth have shifted since last having treatment about 12 years ago, how much do you charge for invisalign? I believe it is minor crowding Thanks
,
A. A cosmetic dentist can offer simple orthodontics or a cosmetic solution. An orthodontist can only offer orthodontics. In terms of cost, if you think you have mild crowding then the best bet is to get a dentist to examine and confirm it so. Our charges range from 3000-4000 as we do not treat simple crowding by stripping the enamel between the front teeth. Dr R Kumar BDSLDSRCS

Can invisalign help my two large front teeth?

June 28th, 2010

Q. Hello i have really large front teeth (just the two at the front) and have struggled wearing other braces in the past because of them, can invisalign help me?,
A. The Invisalign system will move the front teeth but obviously it will not alter the size or the shape of these teeth. If this is the problem then I suggest that Invisalign may not be the right solution for you. I would recommend you seek the advice of a cosmetic dentist.

Is there normally a waiting list at dentists for treatment like Invisalign?

May 26th, 2010

Q. At private dentists is there usually a waiting list to get on their books and to get treatment like Invisalign. I am currently at an NHS dentist but they do not offer treatment like Invisalign that I really want to get so I am hoping you can help me on this matter.,
A. Hello, Usually, you can have an inicial new patient consultation with a dentist during which you could discuss how soon the treatment could be started.

Will Invisalign affect veneered teeth?

May 17th, 2010

Q. Hey, i had the veneer treatment a while back. I\’m wanting invisalign but worried the aligners/retainers will ruin my veneers. Will they affect the veneers at all?,
A. Hello, Obviously your situation is not ideal. The aligners usually would not do damage to the veneeers but I would advise a consultationat at clinic which offers Invisalign treatment and also have dentists with extensive experience in Cosmetic Dentistry.
