Is invisalign only for minimal teeth abnormalities?

Would you be able to tell me if is is true that invislaign can only be used to fix minor teeth abnormalities. This was not a dentist who told me but a friend so I wanted to get this matter cleared up. Is invisalign pretty limited in terms of what it can treat, say quite crooked teeth for example?

Can invisalign correct an off-centred midline?

Q.
Hi. I want to get braces for my teeth. I have an off-centred midline about half a tooth and also have two crowns at the front. The front teeth are slightly forward as well. I want to know if I can correct it with invisalign? It doesn’t bother me if the treatment takes a little longer but if it works out then that’s fine. I like invisalign, because I have heard that it doesn’t always involve tooth extraction and it doesn’t involve too much pain. Advice please. Thankyou

Why are my teeth sensitive since starting invisalign?

Q.
Since starting invisalign my teeth have become quite sensitive to cold and hot drinks. I have never had this problem before and maintain even better dental hygiene than I did before I started treatment, which was of a good level anyway. Is invisalign causing this? Can I do anything to help prevent it?

How long do I need to wear retainer after invisalign?

I have heard from my brother thathsi dentist advised he wear retainers for the rest of his life once invisalign treatment is complete, but is this really necessary? When I had fixed braces when I was younger I only had to wear my retainers for a certain amount of time and my teeth only moved back slightly but not noticeable. So, is it really essential?
