Q. I\’ve just returned from the dentist with my first set of aligners fitted. My dentist however has stuck some protrusions on my front side teeth. I was never told this would be needed, and it looks VERY, VERY odd - enough to make me reconsider choosing invisalign vs. normal braces (which I used to have when younger) and where nothing weird needed to be done to my teeth. They now look distorted, deformed even, with this stuff stuck to my original teeth and I am embarassed to be seen in public. Worse still, I\’ve no idea how these things will be removed without permanently damaging my teeth. Is this standard practice, and if so, why was I not told about it before paying for the treatment in full? Appreciate an opinion from another dentist. Thanks,
A. The attachments are standard practice. the dentist may have lightly mentioned this. They need to be on during the treatment and are removed at the end of the treatment. They should be tooth coloured buttons that help the aligners move your teeth. Sorry that you are upset about this, only a few people would notice. Dr R Kumar BDSLDSRCS

Q. I have dental crowns on my front teeth, they\’re porcelain and I\’ve had them in for several years now. I\’m looking into getting invisalign but just concerned that the aligners will ruin my crowns. i understand that the crowns cannot be moved but I\’m c
oncerned that they could be chipped by the aligners. What should I do?,
A. it is very unlikely that the crowns will be chipped by the aligners, I use invisible braces on patient with crowns with no problems. I do make my patients aware that there is a small chance that the margins of the crown can show around the gum area after treatment is completed and may have to consider replacing the crowns if necessary

Q. I was given elastics to use to push down two front teeth i was only using them for around a week when one of them snapped and my orthodontist said i have to pay for a new one! Why can\’t he just replace it for free for me?,
A. I would speak to your orthodontist about replacing it. Perhaps it was a manufacturing fault.

Q. I\’m not sure i\’ve been wearing the aligners for long enough because nothing seems to be happening, i\’m on my third trays now out of 18. How long am i supposed to wear them for?,
A. you shoul dwear them for 2 weeks each. It may be that the back teeth are being moved so you would not notice any difference at the front Dr R Kumar BDSLDSRCS

Q. Hi i have a crown on one of front teeth and would really like invisalign braces as my teeth are quite wonky, just wondering if it would affect my crown in any way? thank you,
A. The crown should not be a problem at all. We have treated many patients, some even had 6 veneers Dr R Kumar BDSLDSRCS

Q. I\’ve got a gap in my two front teeth and I\’ve had braces before but didn\’t wear the retainers I don\’t want to go through all that again just want a quick fix ho long and how much does it cost to get invisalign and how long would I have to wear them for thank you,
A. Hello, Invisalign might be a very comfortable and quick way to reposition your relapsed teeth. Depending on the difficulties, the treatment starts from around £1500-2000. I would recommend a consultation with a dentist to talk through your options regarding both the braces and the retainers. The ClinCheck plan can predict the lenght of your plan as well.

Q. Can invisalign completely close spaced front teeth?,
A. It depends on each case. In some spaces, gaps between teeth can be fully closed, in some cases, the spaces are too big and are redistributed behind teeth further back in the mouth, in some cases residual spaces can be closed with veneers or white filling.

Q. my two front teeth are not moving at all after having the treatment for several weeks. those teeth are the worst ones they really protrude! they\’re just not moving in place, i\’m really worried. why aren\’t they moving??? thank you!,
A. It may be because your dentist is moving the back teeth fisrt to create some anterior space. They may also be moving in small increments Dr R Kumar BDSLDSRCS
